Student Body

The Holy Rosary School draws students from across the North Central Massachusetts and Southern New Hampshire region. Our students typically come from the towns of Athol, Baldwinville, Gardner, Hubbardston, Orange, Petersham, Templeton, and Winchendon.

In recent years our students have gone on to attend high school at St. Bernard’s, Gardner High and the Montachusett Regional Vocational Technical High School, among others. Some of our students have also attended prep school at the Trivium SchoolCushing Academy, St. John’s Prep, and the Winchendon School.

Our class size limit in K-8 classrooms is 25 students per class, while our two- and three-day Pre-K classes are capped at 20 students. Pre-K classes all have an aide to assist the primary instructor, and the lower grades (up through 4th grade) all have an aide.

In the academic year 2011/2012, the school has just over 260 students. In grades K-8 we therefore have a student/teacher ratio of 15:1. We have the largest group ever of Pre-K students, with 42 students divided into morning and afternoon two- and three-day programs; the student/teacher ratio in Pre-K is therefore 10:1. In the spring of 2011, we had a graduating 8th grade class of 19 students.

While the curriculum of the Holy Rosary School is rooted in our Catholic philosophy, we accept students of all faiths. For more information about the diversity of our student body, see our diversity policy.
